Fortnite matchmaking errors #1, #2, #3 and locked tournaments

Read the whole message first. Number #2 can accompany either a connection failure or missing event permission; the wording determines the next check.

Keep the number and its explanation together

Record mode, platform, time, and complete text. Epic’s #1 examples include a general match connection failure, [1.1.14] for a tournament bus that already departed, and an unknown-error variant. Number #2 includes both content beacon service failure and lack of permission. Number #3 asks you to retry after a few minutes. A number alone does not establish one shared cause.

Check relevant service announcements

Open status.epicgames.com and inspect Fortnite and matchmaking specifically. If maintenance or disabled matchmaking is reported, wait for that status to change before retrying. Reinstalling a client cannot speed up maintenance. No matching announcement does not exclude an individual connection problem. This guide helps you check at the time of failure; it does not declare a current widespread outage.

When a particular tournament is locked

In Competitive, click the event’s lock icon. Epic says its window shows entry requirements and those you are missing. Check DETAILS, start time, and qualification progress for that specific event. The icon can mean either ineligibility or an event that has not started. Requirements vary by competition; file cleanup cannot satisfy them, and a lifted general game ban does not guarantee tournament access.

When to investigate the connection further

If no relevant incident is shown and the message concerns connectivity, use the platform-appropriate network guidance linked from Epic’s error page. Record whether only a tournament fails or an ordinary mode fails too: that comparison helps support but does not prove a cause. Windows commands do not belong on consoles. For PCs, Epic also links checks for the primary video card and background applications.

Attach a useful in-game report

If the game menu is available, open it and select Report → Submit a report → A bug. Choose a reason or other, review the attached screenshot, and retake it if needed so the failure is visible. Continue and Accept complete the submission. The current instructions say this tool attaches screenshots and does not accept video. Keep the time, mode, and check results separately; use the bug-report route rather than a player complaint.
