1. When there is no voice icon
Check account eligibility first: Voice Chat requires an official age check and an age of at least 13. Roblox lists ID verification or facial age estimation, with available methods varying by account and region. Phone verification no longer unlocks Voice Chat. Even after an age check, a missing button may reflect regional availability rather than a broken installation.
2. Check whether the experience supports voice
Read the chosen experience’s description for Voice Chat support. Its developer decides whether to include the feature, so it is not available everywhere. Compare another experience that explicitly supports voice. If the icon appears there, the first world may simply lack the feature; its absence in one experience does not establish an account-wide failure.
3. Connect to voice separately from unmuting
In a supported experience, use the headphone icon or its in-experience Voice Chat setting and confirm the connection is enabled. On PlayStation, you can join through experience settings; official support also confirms voice on Xbox. Platform support does not remove account, age or regional requirements.
4. When connected but nobody hears you
Check the microphone icon: a red slash indicates it is muted. Tapping changes its state, and green animation during speech indicates activity. A separate red dot denotes voice recording, not a device error. Also check the headset or device’s own microphone switch. Joining a voice session and transmitting your microphone are separate conditions.
5. When only another player is silent
Check the speaker icon beside that player’s name in the Roblox menu: they may be muted for this session. That is different from muting your own microphone. If access disappears across supported experiences, check account notices and describe the device, experience, time and icon state to official support. A moderation restriction cannot be resolved by a microphone adjustment.
