Minecraft Java and Bedrock: what to check before playing together

Before purchasing or setting up a server, first confirm the edition with all participants. The generic name Minecraft does not mean the same connectivity.

Specify devices and editions

Write down what your friends are playing on: computer, console or mobile device. Then check the specific edition and version. Java Edition and Bedrock Edition use different server and modification ecosystems. Don't promise co-op play between them without a separate solution and checking its compatibility.

Choose a connection method

For a small group, compare an invitation to a world, Realm and a separate server. Each option has its own requirements for owner availability, payment and settings. Before building a big world, check the login of each participant, the saving of progress and the rights of the players. For a public server, think about the rules and backup separately.

Don't mix instructions

A Java mod guide is usually not suitable for the Bedrock add-on. Commands, interface and behavior of individual mechanics may also vary. If the instructions do not work, compare the publication and version number with its terms. This is faster than repeating the same actions in an incompatible environment.

Sources and checks

Guides are automatically translated from Russian; interface labels may differ. The Russian edition is the original.
