Minecraft crafts: crafting table, recipe grid and missing materials

Crafting becomes clearer if you check the recipe and materials separately. Start with the crafting table, then use the recipe book for the item you need.

First crafting table

Open your inventory and use the small crafting grid. One log makes four planks; You can make a crafting table from four planks. Place it in a convenient place and open the interface: the crafting grid will be 3x3. Check the result of each step separately, without adding different materials in a random order. First, make one copy of the desired item, then decide how many you will need for the next task.

Find the recipe in the book

The recipe book is available in the inventory and at the crafting table. Use categories or search for a specific item. When selecting a recipe, the required materials are shown in a grid, and the missing ones are highlighted in red. This helps distinguish between a resource shortage and an incorrect location. Read the recipe for your particular game release; do not replace a missing component with a similar-looking item. For the wooden pickaxe, the official introductory guide shows three planks and two sticks in the correct positions.

Why doesn't the result appear?

Check the grid size, the exact type of each ingredient and its position. Having all the resources in your inventory does not mean they are already in the correct slots. If a recipe applies to another workstation, the crafting table does not automatically replace it. To check, leave one recipe and remove other items from the grid. Write down the name of the expected result and compare it with what is shown in the book before changing materials.

Prepare materials for the task

If you are building a house or making several tools, first make a short list of the final items and quantities. Then check the recipes and count intermediate components, such as planks and sticks. Keep the supply separate from what is already allocated for a specific recipe. After production, compare the plan with the actual number of items. This order helps to avoid unnecessary crafting and allows you to see what resource still needs to be extracted.
