Fashion Dreamer

Fashion Dreamer is a 2023 dress-up simulation video game developed by syn Sophia and published by Marvelous for the Nintendo Switch. The player creates outfits and fashion items in the virtual world of Eve, gaining followers and developing a personal brand. The game was released in Japan on 2 November 2023, and internationally the following day.

Gameplay

The player creates an avatar, called a Muse, and explores Eve, a virtual world divided into four areas known as Cocoons. Additional Cocoons become available as the player's Influencer Rank increases. The player encounters computer-controlled Character Muses and creates outfits for them, known as "Lookits", using clothing from their collection. Muses have preferences for particular colours, garments and styles, while the game also presents changing fashion trends. Completed Lookits can provide rewards, increase a Character Muse's affinity with the player and contribute to the player's follower count.

Clothing worn by other Muses can be added to the player's collection by giving the item a "Like". The Item Creator allows the player to produce clothing and accessories by customising unlocked patterns with different colours. These items form the player's fashion brand and can be displayed in a customisable showroom. Players can also change their Muse's appearance and clothing and create up to four Muses on one save file.

The game originally included an online mode in which Muses belonging to other players appeared in Eve. Players could request and exchange Lookits, follow other Muses, visit their showrooms and obtain their fashion items. Support for the online mode ended in March 2026, while the solo mode remained available.

Development and release

Fashion Dreamer was developed by Japanese studio syn Sophia, which had previously developed the Style Savvy series. The game is separate from that series, although reviewers compared its fashion-focused gameplay with the earlier games.<ref name="Reed 2023">cite web |last=Reed |first=Jess Elizabeth |date=2023-11-08 |title=Fashion Dreamer Review (Switch) - Some Decent Dress-Up, But Lacks Style Savvy'''s Depth |url= |website=Nintendo Life |access-date=2026-10-04</ref> It was announced during a Nintendo Direct in February 2023.

During the Marvelous Game Showcase in May 2023, syn Sophia president Syuji Yoshida discussed the game's social features, which were developed around interaction between players and the sharing of fashion items. The game was released in Japan on 2 November 2023, followed by North America, Europe and other regions on 3 November.

Marvelous released twelve free post-launch updates, which added clothing items, limited-time events and features including a Lookbook and Muse Notebook. Support for the online mode ended at 02:00 UTC on 17 March 2026. The single-player mode continued to be playable after the closure.

She praised the range of clothing combinations and some of the online interactions, but criticised its lack of goals, progression and the structure of its in-game economy. Allyson Cygan of Nintendo World Report gave it 5.5 out of 10, praising its customisation and online outfit exchanges while finding the gameplay repetitive and lacking in challenge.

Jenni Lada of Siliconera praised the range of dress-up options but considered Eve comparatively empty and criticised the removal of the boutique-management systems found in Style Savvy. TechRadar similarly praised the outfit creation, visual design and online features, while criticising the lack of structured progression and limited range of body types available for Muses. In a more positive review, Pocket Tactics gave the game 8 out of 10 and praised its online features, character designs and clothing customisation.
